En las próximas dos semanas se llevarán a cabo PyConAr y PyConBr, conferencias sobre el lenguaje de programación Python en Argentina y Brasil respectivamente. Estas conferencias se realizan anualmente y son, quizá, los eventos más importantes relacionados a Python en la región. El equipo de Menttes estará presente en ambos eventos dictando charlas sobre Plone y Grok.

 

PyConAr tendrá lugar en Junín, provincia de Buenos Aires, los próximos 23 y 24 de septiembre. El evento contará con la presencia de varios oradores internacionales entre los que encuentran Alan Runyan (Plone Fundation) y Jim Fulton (Zope Corporation), quienes también dictarán charlas en PyConBr. El equipo de Menttes presentará dos charlas en Junín: Grok paso a paso (Emanuel Sartor) y Plone: tiempo de cocción 30 minutos (Alejandro Pereira y Silvestre Huens).

 

Por su parte, PyConBr tendrá lugar en la ciudad de São Paulo del 29 de septiembre al 1º de octubre. Este año se realizará el Simposio Sudamericano de Plone como un track de PyConBr. Alli, miembros del equipo de Menttes presentarán 3 charlas: PloneIDE: Making plone development easier and faster (Franco Pellegrini); Dexterity, same, same, but different (Silvestre Huens); y Migrando contenido a Plone con Transmogrifier (Emanuel Sartor).

The agile methodologies proposed a sofware development focusing on the experience with the customer and the respect to the traditional ones. Promises an improvement communication, elegance, early feedback and generating an easy code to understand and extend, also an automatic code test, productivity improvements and cost reduction.
Under the name Bazar, refers to the development model used in many free software projects. One of the main characteristics of this model is decentralization in the decisions and development code, early and regular deliveries involving users in testing, debugging and evolution projects.

The speech gives a presentation of both approaches, taking as an example Extreme Programming and the free projects of Python and Plone. Reviewing technical and social aspects, listing common points and differences, in order to identify the conditions that must meet a project to employ one or both models.

12 Belgian communes (French and Dutch speaking) and 2 French Mairies participate in the CommunesPlone project. Something similar is doing UdalPlone (Spain) and PloneGov.ch (Switzerland). Recently these projects joint to form PloneGov.org. In doing so, they aim to gain independence from IT services providers by developing, essentially by themselves and in a cooperative manner, applications and websites for their own use as well as for their citizens’. CommunesPlones strategy mainly rests on two renowned multiplatform Open Source tools: Zope and Plone. In the talk, the main goals of the project and opportunities for local governments will be described.

The National University of Cordoba, is the oldest of Argentina and one of the first in the American continent. It has a long history, full of rich events that turned into one of the most important center of influence. But not only cultural and scientific, if not also political and social.

Its origins go back to the first quarter of the seventeenth century, when the Jesuits created the Colegio Maximo where the students, particularly of that religious order, had  philosophy and theology classes .

At present the university has a wide academic offer, including degree courses, postgraduate courses, highschools, research centres, etc.. Brings together nearly one hundred thousand students and ten thousand people that includes teachers and not teachers staff.

The new website of the University is completely developed in Plone 3 and   menttes participated in the project in the following stages:

  • Training and coaching the University development team.
  • Requirements and planning research.
  • Mentoring and development of specific tasks.
  • Advanced Consulting and general advice.
